This wood is located in the Stack Mountains between the Crumpane and Smearlagh rivers. It is some 570 hectares and there is a loop walk along the banks of the Smearlagh River that flows through the wood and the public road. The wood is predominantly Sitka spruce but ash and beech can also be found by the river.

The Smearlagh is a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) as it is one of the most important salmon spawning grounds in teh area.

Car Park: 12 spaces, lay-by.
