About Leopardstown Racecourse

Leopardstown Racecourse is located at Leopardstown in Dublin 18.

Leopardstown Racecourse was built by Captain George Quin in 1888. It was modelled on Sandown Racecourse in the UK.

During its lifetime, Leopardstown has been continuously upgraded and developed and is now one of the premier racecourses in Europe, both in terms of racing quality and facilities.

The Leopardstown Hall of Fame honours many of those who have rightly earned their place in the history of Irish racing including Dr. M.V. O'Brien, Tom Dreaper, Pat Taaffe and Pat Eddery, Arkle, Dawn Run, Levmoss and Nijinsky.

Leopardstown hosts some of the biggest races in the calendar, both jump racing in Winter and flat racing for the rest of the year. There is a Christmas festival, to evening meetings in Summer, to the Autumn season when the highlight is the Tattersalls Irish Champion Stakes.

The course is a left-handed oval of one mile and six furlongs with an uphill finishing straight.
