About Knockmore Garden

Knockmore Garden is located at Cookstown Road in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow.

Please note that this garden is only open to groups and by prior appointment.

This 1.5ha garden has featured in many Irish, British, US and continental magazines and its story is told in an international prize-winning book by Ruth Isabel Ross, 'A year in an Irish Garden'. The garden lies in a sunken glade below a small Palladian house with fine views out to the sea and mountains. Steep rockery and stone terraces, double border, old roses, box, beech and holly hedges, a geometric kitchen garden, ponds and rose hedges are all features at Knockmore Gardens. Behind a holly hedge lies a Robinsonian wild garden with graceful pools, rare trees, and a hundred years old dogs' cemetery. Woodland walks.

Directions: Take N11 from Dublin or Wicklow. Follow signs to Enniskerry and turn off dual carriageway (on to R117). Go up hill 400m to sharp right hand bend - entrance is on left. Stone pillars and black gates.

Open: Late May - mid September 10am - 6pm. Closed for August.

Admission: The garden is only open to groups and by prior appointment. Groups up to 10 people €60. Groups over 10 people, €6 per person.
