About Birr Heritage Centre
Birr Heritage Centre is located at John's Hall, John's Place in Birr, Co. Offaly.
John's Hall is a Neo-classical commemorative hall, reminiscent of an Ionic temple, built for the 2nd Earl of Rosse in 1833 to commemorate the death of his 26-year old son, John Clere Parsons, from scarlet fever.
It was first used as a schoolhouse, later as a town hall, and now it houses Birr's Heritage Centre.
